Born in Valleyfield, Daniel Dupont made its first contact with photography at twelve years old, as a member of the Boy Scouts. Very soon, he acquired his first photo enlarger and made his own prints. His career choice became obvious for him: he will be a professional photographer !!!
In 1987, he registered in the Photography Study Program at the CEGEP of Matane, wishing to become a wildlife photographer. However, his teachers tried to refrain his overflowing enthusiasm, knowing too well the numerous financial pitfalls of such a career. He became a pro in 1990 and specialized in sport photography. His reputation become also established as his photos of politicians were published in magazines as prestigious as Macleans, Times and US News. On the same year, he started a career as teacher of photography at College François Xavier Garneau of Quebec City.
In 1993, he settled in the countryside and took a renewed interest at Quebec avifauna for which he was so passionate. Since then, his main interest is the illustration of the behaviour North American birds. He brings a constant attention to the improvement of photo techniques using a very personal approach.
Since 1992, he participated to the illustration of 12 volumes in Quebec. He has published more than 1700 bird photos in various books and magazines. He also authored two books: “Portraits d’oiseaux du Québec” and “La photo d’oiseaux: conseils et astuces d’un professionnel”.
He writes the chronic “Derrière l’objectif”, published in “Québec Oiseaux” and participates in the Quebec magazines “Nature Sauvage” and “Photo Solution”.
For a few years, he has been leading photo workshops in Québec, Florida, Texas and has plans for Arizona and Panama.
